OpenGL DooM Legacy v1.29 pre-release 7 is now available!

Special thanks to Bell Kin and Robert Bäuml (aka metzgermeister) for the work done on the Linux version ;-) and to Steven McGranahan (aka SoM) for the new boom support!

This version improve the static and dynamic lighting code (a lot faster!), support more realistic coronas (new corona in doom3.wad, so you can change it if you want), better support of wallsplats (even if there are still some clipping problem) and some minor fixes here and there. That's for the OpenGL part. But this version is also improved by boom support (partially supported in hardware mode, though) and a kick ass Linux version (even better than the win32 one). Last but not least, Boris improved the network code, updated the Glide renderer and fix some bugs here and there. There are still some remaining bugs we want to fix before final, but this version should be considered as a lot more stable than previous ones.
Note: Before being able to use fully OpenGL DooM Legacy, you must have a main IWAD file (like doom.wad, doom1.wad, doom2.wad,...) included with an original version of Doom (shareware or commercial). The shareware version can be found here. Just install glLegacy and copy the wad file in glLegacy directory. Then in the launcher tell him to use that wad file.

  • Download DooM Legacy v1.29 pre-release 7 for Win32 (works with Windows 95/98/NT4/2000)

  • Download DooM Legacy v1.29 pre-release 7 for Linux (using Mesa)

    Important!

Launch the game like this (or use the launcher) :
    Win 95/98/NT/2000: glLegacy -opengl
    Linux: ./llxdoom -opengl
Don't forget the -opengl parameter, othewise the game starts in software mode.

All the feature in the 3dfx version is now implemented in the OpenGL version.

What is different (less good) from the 3dfx version

    • Turn to red (when someone shoots on you) and turn to green (when you take a bonus) and other changes of palette.
Known bugs of the 3dfx and OpenGL version:
    • You can see black points (the sky) between textures.
    • Some missing walls/floors/ceilings.
    • Clipping problem with wallsplats.
    • Invulnerability palette change not supported.
If you find others bugs or missing characteristics, it would be great to report them to me!

    Your comments are welcome.
