Nvidia Riva TNT2 FAQ - Submitted by DrJones / Mike Ravkin

OpenGL Driver Installation

There are several vendor who produce TNT-2 based cards, e.g. Asus, Diamond, etc., and you can just go to you manufactures site and download their drivers for your card. These drivers will be specific to your own brand of TNT-2.
However, these drivers are just based on Nvidias own reference drivers, and Nvidias own drivers are usually newer and faster than the manufactures version, so it may be better to use them, you can download them from Nvidias site. Keep in mind that you may lose certain features which were specific to your brand of TNT-2 card by using reference drivers.
Whichever drivers you choose to install will include the OpenGL ICD required to play GL Legacy with. You must also reinstall DirectX 6.1 after installing the latest drivers.
Then just load up the Launcher and start GL Legacy, it should run normally.

FAQ

Q The screen keeps flashing
A This seems to occur in all OpenGL games on some brands of TNT2s, try using the reference drivers
Q I have a Diamond V770, GL Legacy runs really slow in OpenGL mode, what's wrong?
A This is caused by a bug in the Diamond drivers. You can solve this by either using the Nvidia reference drivers, or, if you want to keep the Diamond drivers, by changing a value in the registry. Follow these steps to fix the Diamond drivers:
  • Open the Registry Editor, i.e. run regedit.exe
  • Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA CORPORATION\RIVA TNT\OpenGL
  • Double click on 'TexStagingBufferSize'
  • Change the value to '400000'
  • Close the registry editor

Tweaks

The main way to tweak a Riva TNT2 would be to overclock it, but remember that overclocking your TNT2 will result in voiding your
warranty and possible hardware failure. It is recommended to use Powerstrip to tweak your TNT2 as required.
